Hola amigos. I’m Mary, reluctantly 21 years old, live in Oxford, work in social media for a fab humanitarian charity and blog stuff I get up to.
I started this blog in 2011 when I found out that I’d been chosen for a gap year with charity Project Trust. I spent 12 months in Otjikondo, North Namibia from August 2012 – August 2013. I then moved to Cape Town, South Africa in 2014 to pursue my photography, volunteer at a kindergarten in Langa and work as a kids entertainer. I took a few more visits back to Otjikondo before flying to Germany, going on to Paris, Royan then eventually going back to the UK. I then spent 8 months au pairing in Paris, looking after 3 energetic kids.
Next was moving to Murcia, south of Spain. I was teaching English to locals after completing my TEFL certificate at the start of 2015. The weather was sweet, friends were a laugh and the beers cheap.
My latest big trip was to Nanyuki in Kenya with VSO. If anyone has any questions about VSO, ICS or Kenya please don’t think twice about sending me a quick tweet. Always happy to help!
After volunteering for Project Trust, VSO and so many more in between I’m now so happy to be working the charity world. I’m also a ONE youth ambassador and am an activist for education and fighting inequality.
I’m just here doing my thaaaaang.
